Cathkin Trust Newsletter
July 2024

I am delighted to report that  our first venture, the 50th Jubilee celebration of our school, was a resounding success.  We raised a substantial amount of money for the school – which was our primary aim – and received many offers of further and continued support, for which we are most grateful.

I would like to report on our engagement with the school since February and what we have accomplished so far.  It will be evident that some of the activities are ongoing; we plan to update you in future reports.

School Compliancy
The Trust has met the School Governing Body to discuss how this may be achieved.  One of our Trustees who is a lawyer, has offered his assistance in this regard.  It is essential for the school to be fully compliant if we are to attract (and reassure) donors. The SGB needs three parents of present students to join the board; anyone who is interested and eligible is invited to contact the school directly or the Trust.  (My email address is given below).

Administration Support
Our secretary has been volunteering at the school, helping with record keeping and filing in order to ensure compliance.

Grade 12 Learner Support: Back on Track Program
The Trust has been approached by the school for both financial and practical assistance for this programme.  Many of the Grade 12 learners, especially those who lack adequate facilities at home, would benefit from supervised study sessions at the school at weekends.  The school would like to provide a light meal or snack for the learners attending these sessions and if possible, some assistance with transport costs.

Preparatory meetings have already been held and the school will shortly present a budget to the Trust for consideration.  If you would like to volunteer assistance with the program, please do get in touch.

For the Trust to assist the school it is essential that we continue to fund raise.  If you pledged any financial support at the Jubilee, now is the time to honour those pledges!  If you did not pledge, please do consider making a one off donation or register the Trust as a beneficiary in order to make a regular donation.    It does not matter how small the amount is -every little bit helps.

Bank details are as follows:
FNB
Branch code – 201809
Account (cheque) – 63075225615

As a Trust we have an obligation to all our donors to keep them fully informed of our activities and to let them know exactly how their money is being spent.  Be assured that this is what we will do.

With very best wishes
