About us

The alumni of Cathkin High School (“the School”) have decided to come together and formed the Cathkin Trust to celebrate the School’s 50th Anniversary. The School has a legendary history since it opened its doors in 1973 under the leadership of the Late Mr Henry Joubert.

The School has earned recognition and has been awarded Heritage Status due to the central role it played in the fight for democracy in our country, particularly during the 1976 and 1985 uprisings. The School serves as a beacon of hope and education for an impoverished and disadvantaged community, including the surrounding areas.

The success stories of the School alumni are numerous and inspiring which includes inter alia doctors, lawyers, politicians, business entrepreneurs, educators and sports person's who have left their mark on South Africa’s sporting history.
